Hadith on Refuge: Gabriel teaches the Prophet to seek refuge

Abdur Rahman ibn Khanbash reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Gabriel came to me and he said: O Muhammad, speak! I said: What should I say? Gabriel said: Say, I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, dispersed, and shaped, from the evil of what descends from the sky, from the evil of what ascends therein, from the evil of trials by night and day, and from the evil of every visitor by night except one who visits for good, O Most Merciful.
