Umar on ‘Ilm: No gathering more noble than a scholar’s class

Al-Ghazali reported: Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “Verily, a man might leave his house with sins like the mountain of Tihamah, but then he hears some knowledge and fear Allah, forsakes his sins and departs to his house without any sin upon him. Do not abandon the assemblies of the scholars, for Allah has not created any ground on the face of the earth more noble than the assemblies of scholars.”
