Hadith on Mockery: Enormous sin to belittle a believer

Aisha reported: I said to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, “Safiyyah is enough for you as such,” making fun of her short stature. The Prophet said, “You have said a word that would pollute the sea if mixed with it!” She said, “I had caricatured someone before.” The Prophet said, “I do not like to caricature someone for any reason.

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَسْبُكَ مِنْ صَفِيَّةَ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ غَيْرُ مُسَدَّدٍ تَعْنِي قَصِيرَةً فَقَالَ لَقَدْ قُلْتِ كَلِمَةً لَوْ مُزِجَتْ بِمَاءِ الْبَحْرِ لَمَزَجَتْهُ قَالَتْ وَحَكَيْتُ لَهُ إِنْسَانًا فَقَالَ مَا أُحِبُّ أَنِّي حَكَيْتُ إِنْسَانًا وَأَنَّ لِي كَذَا وَكَذَا
