Hadith on Dua: Supplication for a new convert to Islam

Tariq ibn al-Ashyam reported: Whenever a man embraced Islam, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would teach him the prayer. Then, the Prophet instructed him to supplicate with these words, “O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, grant me wellness, and grant me provision.”

In another narration, the Prophet said, “Verily, these words summarize your worldly life and your Hereafter.

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Muslim

عن طارق بن الأشْيَم قَالَ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا أَسْلَمَ عَلَّمَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّلَاةَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ بِهَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَاهْدِنِي وَعَافِنِي وَارْزُقْنِي

وفي رواية أخرى قال إِنَّ هَؤُلاَءِ تَجْمَعُ لَكَ دُنْيَاكَ وَآخِرَتَكَ
