Ibn Mas’ud on Conscience: Sin agitates the heart and mind

Hannad ibn al-Sari reported: Ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “Sin is what disturbs the heart. There is never a glimpse of it but that Satan has ambition for it.”

In another narration, Ibn Mas’ud said, “Beware of what unsettles the heart. If something unsettles your heart, abandon it.”
