Hadith on Supplication: Abu Bakr’s prayer for morning, evening, and sleep

Abu Huraira reported: Abu Bakr said, “O Messenger of Allah, command me with something to say in the mornings and evenings.” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Say: O Allah, the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of everything and its owner, I testify that there is no God but you. I seek refuge in you from the evil of my soul and from the evil of Satan and his idolatry. Say it in the morning, the evening, and when you lie down for sleep.

In another narration, the Prophet said, “And that I perpetrate evil upon myself or bring it upon a Muslim.

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مُرْنِي بِشَيْءٍ أَقُولُهُ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتُ وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتُ قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْ اللَّهُمَّ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي وَمِنْ شَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشِرْكِهِ قَالَ قُلْهُ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتَ وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتَ وَإِذَا أَخَذْتَ مَضْجَعَكَ

وفي رواية أخرى قال وَأَنْ أَقْتَرِفَ عَلَى نَفْسِي سُوءًا أَوْ أَجُرُّهُ إِلَى مُسْلِمٍ
