Hadith on Prayer: How did the Prophet begin his prayer at night?

Shariq Al-Hawzani reported: I entered the home of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, and I asked her, “How did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, begin his prayer when he awakened at night?” Aisha said, “When the Prophet awakened at night, he would exalt Allah ten times, praise Allah ten times, and say ten times: Glory be to Allah with praise. He would say ten times: Glory be to the King, the Holy. He would seek the forgiveness of Allah ten times and declare the oneness of Allah ten times. Then, the Prophet would say ten times: O Allah, I seek refuge in you from the confinement of the world and the confinement of the Day of Resurrection. Then, he would begin his prayer.”
