Hadith on Ablution: Recommendation to sniff water deeply and rinse mouth

Laqit ibn Sabirah reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to tell me about ablution. The Prophet said, “Perform ablution thoroughly, run your fingers between your fingers and toes, and sniff water deeply into your nose unless you are fasting.

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to At-Tirmidhi

An-Nawawi said, “In the rulings, rinsing the mouth and sniffing water into the nose are two (recommended) propethic practices.”

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

قال النووي فِي الْأَحْكَامِ فَالْمَضْمَضَةُ وَالِاسْتِنْشَاقُ سُنَّتَانِ
