Ali on Hatred: Do not rebuke people so much that it leads to hate and anger

Abu As-Sa’ib reported: Ali ibn Abu Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “Do not scold people too often, for verily, too much scolding leads to rancor and hatred, and it is bad manners.”

عَنْ أَبِي السَّائِبِ قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ لا تُكْثِرِ الْعِتَابَ فَإِنَّ الْعِتَابَ يُورِثُ الضَّغِينَةَ وَالْبَغْضَةَ وَكَثْرَتُهُ مِنْ سُوءِ الأَدَبِ
