Hadith on Life: No killing disbelievers if they claim to accept Islam

Al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad reported: He said, “O Messenger of Allah, if I confront an unbeliever and we fight each other and he severs one of my hands with his sword, then he hides from me behind a tree and claims he has submitted himself to Allah, should I kill him?” The Prophet said, “Do not kill him.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, he cut off one of my hands and only then he said it!” The Prophet said, “Do not kill him. If you do so, he will be in your position before you killed him, and you will be in his position before he said it.”
