Hadith on Zina: Accusers must bring proof, or be punished

Ibn Abbas reported: Hilal ibn Umayyah was with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he accused his wife of adultery with Sharik ibn Sahma. The Prophet said, “Bring proof, otherwise the punishment is on your back.” Hilal said, “O Messenger of Allah, if any one of us saw a man over his wife, would he leave to search for proof?” The Prophet said, “Bring proof, otherwise the punishment is on your back.” Then, the Prophet mentioned the verses of adjudication of adultery allegations without proof.
