Hadith on Sadaqah: Best charity is given when independent, enriched

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The best charity is what you give when you are independent. You should start by spending on your dependents.

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Bukhari

Al-Nawawi said, “Our way is that giving charity from all kinds of wealth is recommended for one who has no debt, no dependents, and is not enduring hardship.”
