In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

Imam al-Nawawi records in his book Meadows of the Righteous:

Chapter on truthfulness and honesty.

Allah Almighty said:

O believers! Be mindful of Allah and be with the truthful.

Surat al-Tawbah 9:119

And Allah said:

Surely for Muslim men and women, believing men and women, devout men and women, truthful men and women, patient men and women, humble men and women, charitable men and women, fasting men and women, men and women who guard their chastity, and men and women who remember Allah often—for all of them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.

Surat al-Ahzab 33:35

And Allah said:

It surely would have been better for them if they were true to Allah.

Surat Muhammad 47:21

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

You must be truthful. Verily, truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man continues to be truthful and encourages honesty until he is recorded with Allah as truthful. And beware of falsehood. Verily, falsehood leads to wickedness and wickedness leads to the Hellfire. A man continues to tell lies and encourages falsehood until he is recorded with Allah as a liar.

Hasan ibn ‘Ali reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt. Verily, truth brings peace of mind and falsehood sows doubt.

Abu Sufyan reported:

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, tells us to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship anything along with him, and to renounce what our ancestors had said. He orders us to pray, to speak the truth, to be chaste, and to keep good relations with our families

Sahl ibn Hunayf reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Whoever honestly asks Allah for martyrdom, Allah will grant him martyrdom even if he dies in his own bed.

Hakim ibn Hizam reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Both parties in a business transaction have the right to annul it, as long as they have not separated. If they are truthful and clear with one another, their transaction is blessed. If they lie and conceal something, the blessing of their transaction will be eliminated.
