Allah Almighty said:

Do not let your eyes crave the fleeting pleasures We have provided for some of the disbelievers, nor grieve for them. And be gracious to the believers.

Surat al-Hijr 15:88

And Allah said:

It is out of Allah’s mercy that you, O Prophet, have been lenient with them. Had you been cruel or hard-hearted, they would have certainly abandoned you. So pardon them, ask Allah’s forgiveness for them, and consult with them in conducting matters. Once you make a decision, put your trust in Allah. Surely Allah loves those who trust in Him.

Surat Ali ‘Imran 3:159

‘Adi ibn Hatim reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Guard yourself against the Hellfire, even with half of a date in charity. If one cannot find it, then with a kind word.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Charity is due upon every joint of the people for every day upon which the sun rises. Justly reconciling two people is charity. Helping a man with his animal and lifting his luggage upon it is charity. A kind word is charity. Every step that you take towards the mosque is charity, and removing harmful things from the road is charity.

Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Do not belittle any good deed, even meeting your brother with a cheerful face.

Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Every good deed is charity. Verily, it is a good deed to meet your brother with a smiling face, and to pour what is left from your bucket into the vessel of your brother.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, never avoided me ever since I embraced Islam. I would never see him but with a smile on his face.

I have not seen anyone smile more often than the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
