Riyad us Saliheen Sincere Counsel

By Abu Amina Elias for FaithinAllah.org

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

An-Nawawi records in his book Riyad us-Saliheen:

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Shall I not inform you about the False Messiah which no prophet has told his people? Verily, he is blind in one eye and he will come with the likeness of paradise and fire. That which he calls paradise is actually fire, and that which he calls fire is actually paradise. Verily, I have warned you just as Noah has warned his people.

Abu Mas’ud Al-Ansari reported: I came with Uqbah ibn Amr to Hudhaifa ibn Al-Yaman and Uqbah said, “Tell us what you have heard about the False Messiah from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.” Hudhaifa said:

Verily, the False Messiah will appear and will have with him water and fire. What the people see to be water is actually burning fire, and what the people see to be fire is actually cool water. So whoever among you sees that should jump into what appears to be fire, for it will be sweet water.

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

There is no land that will be safe from the False Messiah except for Mecca and Medina. There is no passage leading to them except it will be guarded by the angels arranged in ranks. The False Messiah will appear in a barren place next to Medina and the city will be shaken three times. Allah will expel from it every unbeliever and hypocrite.

Umm Shareek reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

The people will flee from the False Messiah by taking shelter in the mountains.

She said, “O Messenger of Allah, where will the Arabs be on that day?” The Prophet said:

They will be few.

Imran ibn Hussein reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Nothing between the creation of Adam until the establishment of the Hour is greater than the affair of the False Messiah.

Al-Mughira ibn Shu’bah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about the False Messiah more than anything else. The Prophet said to me:

O my son, why are you worrying about him? He will not harm you.

I said, “Indeed, the people will think that he has with him flowing rivers and mountains of bread.” The Prophet said:

He is too insignificant with Allah for him to deceive the believers.

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

There was no prophet except that he warned his people of the one-eyed liar. Verily, he is blind in one eye and your Lord is not blind in one eye. He will have written across his forehead the word of unbelief.

In another narration, the Prophet said:

There will be written across his forehead the word of clear unbelief. Every believer will be able to read it whether he is learned or illiterate.

There will come a time for the people when a person will go around with gold to give in charity but he will find no one to accept it, and a man will be followed by forty women seeking refuge with him due to the scarcity of males and abundance of females.

Mirdas Al-Aslami reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, how will it be lost?” The Prophet said:

When authority is given to those who do not deserve it, then wait for the Hour.
